Haikus I wrote...

A haiku is a Japanese form of poetry. It consists of 3 lines with 17 syllables, like 5/7/5. They can be written on any topic, but are typically about nature.

The Sun

The sun is a cat
Lying on its large blue bed
With bright orange fur

Snowflake

Snowflake made of ice
Crystal floating slowly down
In the cold winter

Clouds
Cotton hovering
In a vast, pale blue expanse
Like soft, white velvet
Night
Sheet of black velvet
White stars sparkle like diamonds
That is the night scene

Chocolate
The taste of cocoa
And milk, irresistible
Melting in my mouth

Trees
Lush green foliage
Small birds flying branch to branch
The sweet smell of wood

Bird
Tiny brown sparrow
Flying freely through the air
Flapping its small wings

A giggling gaggle of geese (Limerick)

A giggling gaggle of geese
Got stung by a swarm of bees
They giggled like mad
They were never sad
Get me away from them, PLEASE!

There was an old cow at the show (Limerick)

There was and old cow at the show
Now she is stir fry don't you know?
She came in last place
The others flew into space
They made everybody say 'woah!'

Sunset (Cinquain)

Sunset
So beautiful
The glowing star sinks down
It's flooding the sky with its hue
Bon soir!

Genius (Acrostic poem)

Getting great grades is
Excessively easy for this super
Nerd
Intelligence is too small a word
Underestimate him, you should never
Super smart system

Fortune (Acrostic poem)

Fortune, rank, money
Oh, so overrated
Rarity is of people who don't care about this
Tell me, you want to be rich, don't you?
Underestimated are things of importance
Nonsense is considered important
Everyone cares about just money, Money, and MONEY!

Pollution (Acrostic poem)

Pollution, pollution, why do we do so?
Oh, soon we'll pollute the moon too!
Love our planet, you? I think not!
Little by little, pollution increases
Untimely doom!
Take care, Earth is your home too!
Instantly, you'll die!
Otherwise there will be
No life!

Fisherman Inspecting His Net (Couplets)

Fisherman inspecting his net,
Says "It'll sell for lots I'll bet!"

The fish was big and fat

Bigger than a fat cat!

He took it to the market

And on a table he parked it.

He sold the fish for one grand,
But it slipped out of his hand!

Wish, Wish, Wish (Couplet)

A nice wish on a falling star

Is better than a candy bar!

It's a good day to wish, wish, wish

And eat out of a dish, dish, dish

Leaves (Haiku)

A beautiful park

Amazing gold leaves flying

It's late afternoon

Daffodils (Tanka)

On an unharmed hill

Pretty yellow flowers rest

They sway in the breeze

I admire their immense beauty

These are pretty Daffodils

Autumn (Haiku)

The gloomy autumn
is harvest time for apples
it is breezy,too!

Spring (Haiku)

The lushy flowers
Swaying in the breeze
look so beautiful

Wind (haiku)

The fierce wind howls
It gets colder and colder
And suddenly it stops

Snow (haiku)

Snow having melted
the whole village is brimful
of happy children

colors

Colors,some are so bright
Orange,blue,red and white
Loving colors such as red
One shade of blue puts you to bed
Under and above the world there are colors
Resting colors, no one hollers
Some colors are so bright

The Fish

I saw a fish
Swimming in a dish
To help it flee
I took it to the sea

It jumped out of the the dish
And joined a school of fish
But along came a shark
The rest of the story is too...DARK!

The Beach

I went to the beach and I saw a peach
I gave my friends a chocolate each
When I came back, I told my friend I saw a lagoon
The strange thing was the lagoon was maroon
And their I caught a baloon
But it blew up very soon

Friendship

Friends are easy to make
My friends always bake a cake
We always play games
Whenever it rains
We have a lot of fun
In the sun
And we eat a bun
Friendship is forever and fun!

Butterfly

(An Acrostic Poem)

Beautiful butterflies, flying so high
Under you is the trees and sky
The flowers you rest on, shining so bright
They open in the morning, close at night
Every day, I see butterflies
Resting in the sun or flying up high
For, every day, I see butterflies
Listening to the night with fireflies
You fly in the morning, rest at night.

Ziggy The Zebra

Ziggy the zebra had a pizza pie
He accidentally kicked it so high
High up in the sky

He couldn't find it
So he cried
-- Until he died!

He went up to the heavens
And there he found his pizza pie!

Myself

My name is Annie. I am 7 1/2 years old and in October I will turn 8. My birthday is on the 16th of October. I'm full of ideas to make new games. I have a lot of toys. I have two brothers. One is 6 years old and the other one is 3 1/2 years old. Their names are Musa and Sherri. I can make lots of sculptures with play dough and clay. My brothers always bug me (like, today!). I think I should stop talking about my brothers if the topic is 'Myself' :)

I love to play hide and seek. I love to eat strawberries. I hate to eat walnuts. I can run fast. My best friend is Imaan.

Spring

Spring is the best season I suppose
For it brings us many a rose

Spring, spring, you can wear a ring
Then you will be full of "bling"

Wear a necklace made of string
Holding flowers that you bring

Your brother can be a king
And I can sing

But be careful of the bees
For they might sting!
